My Story.

I'm a wife, a mother, an athlete, a botanist, a friend. I have a wig collection, a yarn stash that could restock a yarn store, and a thing for silly socks. I believe in eating birthday cake. And I'm happiest when there's a dog nearby.

I'm also a board-certified health and wellness coach, a mid-life career pivot I didn't expect. It grew out of my own health journey, the long way around.

Here's how I got here.

I was the person who had it together on the outside.

A rigorous career. Scaling 7-ft walls in my spare time. Checking all the boxes on society's expectations. I worked hard at everything I did. People admired my dedication. What they didn't see: the calorie restriction dressed up as healthy eating, the training plan with no rest days, the relentless to-do list. From the outside, and for a long time on the inside too, it looked like it was working.

Then everything stopped at once.

My mother died. All the ties that held me down were suddenly loose. I left a meaningful, 25-year career. My overtrained, underfueled body started breaking down in ways that took years to diagnose. The strategies that had always worked stopped working. For the first time, trying harder made things worse. I started asking questions I had never let myself ask.

As someone who had always done things alone, what happened next surprised me. I built a team: a therapist, a naturopathic doctor, a physical therapist, an athletic coach. Asking for help with my own health, from people trained to give it, was something I had never done before. I started understanding that the patterns I'd been running weren't random. They had started in childhood, as all survival strategies do. Those patterns were built from real strengths. I had just run them so hard that they started working against me.

I got curious.

I stopped trying to fix myself and started trying to know myself. Getting curious felt strange at first. I had spent decades measuring, optimizing, pushing. Asking "what do I actually want?" was not in the repertoire.

But I had the tools now, and I had a team, and for the first time I had permission from myself to look at things differently. I stopped asking what was wrong with me and started asking what was actually true about me. Not the version built from someone else's expectations. The one underneath.

I am present.

Mental fitness has changed my life. Now I love my body for what it can still do. I train and race. I move in ways that bring me joy and eat in ways that honor my body. I'm figuring out what works now at 52, no longer relying on what worked at 35. What changed isn't the effort. It's who I'm doing it for.

The negative patterns haven't gone away. But they have lost their grip. I don't have hard days anymore. I have difficult moments. What used to derail me, sometimes without my awareness and sometimes for days, now takes minutes to recognize and respond to. I get to choose my response instead of gut-reacting out of fear.

This is what mental fitness actually looks like. Not the absence of hard moments. The ability to move through them calmly and confidently.

What I know.

I went looking for a framework that explained what I lived through, and I found it in several evidence-based certifications. I studied coaching methodology with Precision Nutrition, movement and nutrition with NASM, and mental fitness with Positive Intelligence®. Through practice and mentorship, and after passing the board certification exam, I earned the credential I am most proud of: National Board-Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

I went after every certification deliberately, for the skills each one built, and for the credibility each one earned. I wanted to feel genuinely qualified to sit across from someone who was stuck - someone who knew what to do but couldn't follow through - and actually help.

That's the coaching I offer. Board-certified, evidence-based, and built from the inside out.
